Telstra have always been like that, even when they were Telecom. They still
think they are a monopoly and that they can offer monopoly service (four
letter word, starts with s) and reap monopoly profits.

I have seen a Telecom salescritter stand up and tell a woman from New York
that the Telecom system was better than that in the US, and this was back
in the '80s.

Well, Lucent and all the other US providers operate in Canada.
