ATA 100 Hard drive and installing LINUX

Hi Guys  .. I now have this wonderful computer.

with a 20Gb ATA 100 hard disk drive  that I want 
to install RedHat 6.2 on .. 

But it does not recognise the existence of the drive .

yes it will boot with dos ... 

can anyone help
