old compaq system network trouble
howdy,
i have an old compaq 486/66 with an onboard network adaptor.
having a little trouble configuring it - or even getting linux to see it.
i have tried both rad hat and mandrake ( im not a super linux techo guy so
these distros are all that i generaly use) and none seem to work...
ok, all i am trying to do is get this (compaq) computer to act as the gateway
to the internet on my home network. sofare i am using mandrake 7.2 with great
success - but its currently on my main computer which isnt going to be the
gateway.
so this is a two part question:
1) how to configure the network adaptor on the compaq?
2) what is the best distro to use?
(i have looked at some small custom distros and am thinking these could be
the way to go)
thanks for the help,
andrew galdes,
