Don't ever confuse 6 with 7

I have a sad story. One that could have been avoided if I had remembered to
backup.

I decided to install a different flavour of Linux. I fdisk'd. But I deleted
/home (hda7) instead of / (hda6). I now have two /'s and no data.

It's only a couple of weeks source that's gone missing, 6 months of address book
updates, unbacked up ssh keys, several web pages I was working on, digital
photos that hadn't been backed up, Ximian GNOME/other-big-downloads and
obviously many local customisations.

But it's the source/ssh keys/photos I most care about.

I'm stupid. I suck. I shouldn't do system config changes when I'm stuffed.

Just remember, backup. It's no good having a big spare disk sitting there
waiting to take data, you must actually use it. I was planning to, I had
prepared, but I fogot to actually DO it.

I'm now retrieving what I can from other machines and the web.

Sigh.
