I'm certain there is such a command, but I cant think of 
it off the top of my head.
One of the script gurus on the list should know that one,
I'm pretty sure its been mentioned on the list b4.

Those URLs look like they'll be very useful, and nicer than the bash
manual pages!

Actually, I have a particular script query.  Is there a command that
causes the script to pause for a specified time period?  I guess a loop
could achieve this, but at the expense of high CPU usage.
