if you all insist, i'll concede - charging per unit is standard utility
practice, and probably will be the only viable model in the future.  i was
only looking at the high level of competition in fairly unregulated modern
communications, mobile phones for example, making large, well resourced
corporations want/need to offer 'beter than real' deals.

maybe they do it to remove less resourced local isps that can't keep up with
the losses over the years the 'price war' is going on, eventually forming
large monopolistic corporations, we've never seen that before hey!?
not that would make finding niches impossible though.

only stirring up the question really, cheers! :)
