Weird network problem

Hi all...

Just had a strange error occur on one of my linux file servers...
The console was constantly reporting

eth0: Insufficient memory; nuking packet.

and nothing could connect to it (ping, telnet, etc)
I went down to the machine and restarted SMB and that seems to have
fixed the problem
Any ideas as to why this would have happened?
The machine is a Celeron366 with 64Mb RAM, 150Mb swap running RH6.2 and
all it does is serve files

Many Thanks
