Appletalk Question

Okay, i installed the debian netatalk package, set up volumes and
everything
shares nicely when you log in using an account with a password.

The problem is with guest logins. It appears, from the extremely limited
documentation that it will use the 'nobody' account by default for guest
logins. However, when I attempt to login as a guest, the Apple says
something to the effect of 'The server has unexpectedly terminated the
connection' - which checks out in /var/log/syslog:

 Jan 2 12:02:06 bounty afpd[4540]: ASIP session:548(1) from
 203.15.93.231:49174(2)
 Jan 2 12:02:06 bounty afpd[4540]: login noauth
 Jan 2 12:02:06 bounty afpd[4465]: server_child[1] 4540 killed
 Jan 2 12:06:10 bounty afpd[4547]: ASIP session:548(1) from
 203.15.93.231:49175(2)
 Jan 2 12:06:10 bounty afpd[4465]: server_child[1] 4547 done
 Jan 2 12:06:19 bounty afpd[4548]: ASIP session:548(1) from
 203.15.93.231:49176(2)
 Jan 2 12:06:19 bounty afpd[4548]: login noauth
 Jan 2 12:06:19 bounty afpd[4465]: server_child[1] 4548 killed
 Jan 2 12:18:00 bounty -- MARK --
 Jan 2 12:38:00 bounty -- MARK --

As to *WHY* it is responding like this i dont know. The one strange anomoly
is that when I check the FAQ on the site, it says that afpd uses
getusershell() to ensure that a user has a valid shell ... but 'nobody'
wont
have one will it? ... i doubt whether this is the problem, as 'guest' is
 probably a special case.

 Any ideas?

 Thanx,
 AndrewH
