My new IBM ThinkPad notebook (which has a buggy APM BIOS; you listening to
me IBM, maker of buggy APM BIOSes; search engine IBM + APM + bug) came with
a Lucent WinModem, which seems to work okay with the ltmodem module.  Don't
write off these modems quite so quickly.
