I have noticed in windows if you run programs to tewak your MTR etc... you
DO notice a difference, particulary with pings in games (such as
counterstrike...)

How exactly can I "tune" my modem for maximum performance? Init strings? MTR
etc...? "serial settings"? "pppd/chat settings"?

My modem is an ActionTec External 56K.... I have noticed in Windows I get
around 6kb/sec, sometimes jumping to 10kb/sec.. in linux, it never goes past
about 4kb/sec... (I am using the drivers for the external modem though in
windows...)

Thanks muchly
Ryan.
