I had a similar problem where the mink was fine but ALL traffic would
STOP!

I fixed it by checking the firewall rules (/sbin/ipchains -L).  I found
that the firewall was being flushed and then changing to all DENY after
about 20 mins.  I cant remember exactly what fixed it, but one of the
things I did was upgrade the kernel to 2.2.17 and it works OK now.
