I very rarely post a simple 'well said' style post, because it doesn't
normally need saying, but in this case I think it does, so...
Well said.
Whether the suckiness is due to the architecture of winmodems, or
because they are generlly very cheaply made, at the end of the day
regardless of all the hypothetical reasons why a winmodem may or may
not be a good ideas, they suck.
In real life scenarios, as in _you_ trying to connect to _the
Internet_ using _an ISP_, winmodems really do suck.
The ISP may as well not bother buying a $50,000 access server if all
your going to do is by a winmodem to dial into it.

P.S. Hey Mark, I wonder if we can ask any of the chaps at Cisco IOS
dial to give us their thoughts on winmodems. :o) I might bring it up.
