MandrakeUpdate handles them the same way. Last one I did (LM7.1) had a
sub-note that to be safe (rather than sorry???) the user should download
first and update 'manually' (read point click click instead of point
click), but in the spirit of what-the-hell, I let Mandrake Update do
it's worst to see what that would be, and it was a successful kernel
upgrade.
