then perhaps you are using kppp, in which case, there is an option:

config->[select account]->edit->dial->[edit ppd arguments]

enter "persist" <-- without the ""
click add.

try that.

if this doesn't work, please describe everything about your setup. What
you do to connect, how you set stuff up. As you can see, there are
myriad ways to configure a linux box, from the simple to the
GUI^H^H^Hnot so simple.
