Mouses with lots of buttons

Hi all..

I just got a "nice" new mouse (MS Explorer Optical). Works like a charm
under Winblows (what did you expect?) but I can only have 2-button
support in Linux.

The mouse is a USB mouse with a PS2 converter on it. It has 2 buttons,
a wheel (doubles as a button) and 2 other side buttons for a total of
five buttons.

I know it has prolly been asked a dozen times, but is there any way of
at least enabling the third button, the wheel, and the side two buttons.

I have noticed that this mouse occasionally scoots off in the opposite
direction to what you move it. Not sure what is causing this exactly,
but it doesn't happen under Windows. I'm gonna investigate that and see
if I can't fix it, but it is low priority with exams looming :-(

Yet another question is "is it hard to get dual-head going in X?" I have
a new mobo with 8M AGP graphics on it, and I have my Asus TNT2 card in a
PCI slot. The mobo detects the TNT2 card and boots that first, but the
onboard (Trident) 3D video in the mobo is available in Windows, so there
must be a way of running it concurrently under X also.

Well anyway, thanks in advance for any useful answers.

Adam
