Re: how to build linux kernel 2.3.99-pre9

Well, I've read a fair bit of material out there about the
need to upgrade to 2.2.16.

Does this mean that all of those 2.0.x kernels out there have
to be upgraded?
(Microsoft is going to _love_ this!)

If you've got a stable, well set-up 2.0.36 machine, then to convert
to the 2.2.16 kernel, I need to change a big heap of applications stuff,
starting with the ipfwadm stuff.

I'm hoping that the 2.0.x kernels are safe.
If not, I'll have to essentially build new systems and dump
all of the old stuff.
I found that even upgrading from RH 4.2 to 5.1 was very tricky.
I'm assuming that going from 2.0.36 to 2.2.16 kernels will be
much more difficult than that.
It really needs a complete distribution update, doesn't it?

Cheers,
Alan Kennington.
