The bash man page is one of the worst examples for showing the usefulness or
man pages; it's tremendously long and thus it's often difficult to find
pertinent information in it. They would do well to take the bash page and
split it up into several, as perl does.
But yes, in general, the man pages do have what you need. Even bash :-)
Searching is an art form, make no mistake.

honestly, I find the man page all I need. You just have to hang in there
and get familiar with where to look.
Sometimes people get to the 4th page of the man page and give up, when
actually the stuff you'd be looking for (builtin commands) are *way*
down there.
Mr. Newall may or may not agree with this, but I think the bash man page
is OK.
