I know that the standard SB Live has a digital out, but last time I checked
(6-9 months ago) they retailed for about $400. However, the price has
supposedly dropped dramatically since then.

Note that the SB Live Value (my card) does NOT have digital capability outside
of plugging your CDROM digital out into the card.

The SB Live does have Linux support, although you'll have to go to
developer.creative.com and compile their kernel modules for it to work. I'm
not aware of how far this support extends.
