You could try wwwoffle (http://www.gedanken.demon.co.uk/wwwoffle/), it has
been specifically made for this purpose. Pehaps not as flexible or powerful
as squid, but may be suitable for your purpose.

If you do find a way to do similar offline caching in squid, please let me
and/or the list know, as I would be interested in how you did it.
