Thanks Brad..

I will have a look at the modem and PPP logs..  Being a newbie, I wasn't
aware of these until today..

It could be Primus and my local connection.  I am about to move, so I will
see if this improves..

If I still can't get anywhere after a while, I will seriously look at
broadband or some sort of cable connection.  I will want a permanent
connection soon anyhow..
