Logrotate Question

Greetings,

(Redhat) Linux has a useful utility called logrotate that will take system
logs and rotate, compress, archive and delete them.

The man page, and the source rpm however are devoid of any location as to
who wrote this package, and any info about where to get it. The reason i
want to know, is that I wish to use this utility on other Unixes,
currently Solaris, as it only has a rotate utility for syslog, and doesn't
have any compress options.

Can someone tell me where I can find the source, or whether this will
safely run on other unixes (or even sucessfully compile) ?

Thanks
