Not necessarily.  I have installed SuSE 6.0 6.1 6.2 and the partition
requirement seems very flexible - to the extent that the swap file might be
permitted inside your SuSE extended partition (if SuSE install is allowed
to do this itself).  ie, SFAIK the suggestion I made is worth a try.
If it doesn't work, you are no worse off :-)
