some interesting info on WIN2K info
ZDNet has got hold of an internal Microsoft memo which says there are
63,000 potential defects in the final Windows 2000 release code, as
discovered by Microsoft's own Prefix tool. Microsoft estimates 28,000 are
likely to be "real" problems. According to the memo, the source-code base
contains 21,000 "postponed" bugs, some representing problems, others
"plain confusion as to how something is supposed to work." There are also
27,000 "BugBug" comments about "unfinished work" or "long-forgotten
problems." Windows development leader Marc Lucovsky sums it up: "How many
of you would spend $500 on a piece of software with over 63,000 potential
known defects?" Microsoft says 750,000 testers received each beta version
of Windows 2000. See
