A little family tale

For those in need of a little heartwarming, this from my 13 yo daughter.
She has a new laptop for her first year at high school. She is trying to
get the school's IT manager aside to get permission to load Linux onto
the 'spare' 2 GB left on the hard drive. She has to run Win98 for
school, along with a swag of apps from various software houses. After
having to use the hardware reset button after a valiant but vain attempt
to 'three finger salute' windows after a complete lockup, a fairly
frequent occurence lately, this little quote:
"Why do people pay money for Windows when it crashes all the time, when
they can Linux for free! Linux never crashes like this Dad. It just
doesn't make sense"

I suspect we will have a go at loading Linux onto her laptop Real Soon
Now (tm).

The said machine is a Toshiba Satellite 1550 CDS. I have never done a
load onto a laptop before, dunno what I will face, wish me luck :)))

Cheers,

Bruce
