Help please! Kernel upgrading
I've been trying to upgrade the kernel on my otherwise default RH6.1 system for
about two weeks, and after reading heaps of (sometimes confusing or even
conflicting) readme's, articles on slashdot, HOWTO's etc, I am not getting far!
*Swallows pride*
Can someone give me a simple list of what I need to do to get the darn thing
upgraded?
I've got the full source (tar.bz2), unpacked it, updated the symlink to point to
/usr/src/2.2.14 instead of /usr/src/2.2.12-20, done a make xconfig, make dep,
make modules, make modules_install and finally make install.
I've rebooted several times - almost as often as my old Windoze machine :-(
I guessing there is something fairly simple I have overlooked.
Thanks in advance, and one day maybe I can actually answer a question, rather
than asking!
Cheers.
