What's imposing this limit under Linux 2.2, the UID? (although I thought
even a signed 16 bit integer would give you a higher limit that this).

I have the Cyrus IMAP server running at several sites now (as well as at
home), and it is one fine piece o' freeware. The admin utility is Tcl
scriptable, thereby letting you write some nice web front-ends for the
most Unix-phobic of managers.

Too bad the ISC version for NT is still stuck on 4 :-( (although I have
read there are commercial versions, but they've been "GUI-fied" for
"ease of management").
