Isn't loss of virginity defined as the tearing or "breaking" of the hymen  by
way of  penetration in the act of intercourse?
(bear in mind of course that the hymen can be broken in many other ways)
How do we actually know that Mary was a virgin?
Did she just say she was and they all believed her?
