At the LILO prompt, type:
linux 3

to get into run level 3 (the colsole). 5 is to start X on boot.

Alternatively, boot into linux as normal, and when you're at the X login
screen, press ctrl-alt-F1, to get to the first colsole. It's the same as
pressing alt-F1 at the colsole, but since you're in X, you need to use ctrl
too. Remember, in Redhat, there's 6 virutal consoles, so alt-F1 to alt-F6
will take you to different consoles. If X is running, it will be at alt-F7
