adding another include directory

How would you tell your system to add another include directory ...
/usr/include is the one that the system looks into for the standard 
headers....  I compiled mysql++ and I can get away with just making links in 
/usr/include to all the needed headers in mysql++ directory.. but I would 
like to make one single link in /usr/include to /home/mysql/API/mysql++/...
