Re: compiler missing
Adam,
I have been reading this thread, and it appears to me
that everybody seems to have an opinion about X (the X
Windowing System, X system 11, ad nauseum, ad infinitum) but
nobody has actually answered your question about your
missing compiler, which funnily enough has headed all of
these ramblings about windowing systems. So here goes:
I don't know how to fix your problem, but if you want to
reinstall a compiler on your system, from the RedHat 6.0
binary distribution disk that Geoffrey Bennett kindly
supplied me with, in the directory REDHAT/RPMS the
replacement for gcc and g++ is called egcs, and on my disk,
there appears to be four files you need, these are :
Egcs-1_1.rpm
Egcs-c__.rpm
Egcs-g77.rpm
Egcs-obj.rpm
I hope that this helps you out. To everybody else
listening : I don't have a problem with discussing side
issues, but as in this case, can we start another thread
instead of confusing beginners with tangential discussions.
Cheers!
Andrew
