Re: no route to host

this is just a possibility, but it totally stumped me on
	switching to RedHat 6.0...

Some of the pppd option defaults have changed. With RedHat 5 and
before, my ppp connection worked without explicitly set pppd options,
but since RedHat 6.0 I require

	'noipdefault'

What does this do, that was not necessary before? Reading `man pppd`
I found ...

       noipdefault
Disables the default behaviour when no local IP
address is specified, which is to determine (if
possible) the local IP address from the hostname.
With this option, the peer will have to supply the
local IP address during IPCP negotiation (unless it
specified explicitly on the command line or in an
              options file).
