Whoops.....
Sorry about that.
You use "rm" to remove a block device of char device node.
But those things you were looking at _were_ block/char device nodes.
Surely "rm" will get rid of the files (as root).
If not, then maybe "fsck" could fix it.
"mkfs" is a bit drastic.
