i think you misunderstood the context of what Ben was saying. The scripts
themselves cause write ops to the cd. Imagine the simplest scenario inside the
install script
mkdir ./temp
cp this ./scratch
there _should_ be a INSTALL, or a README in the same directory as the install
script. It may give clues (I'm not shouting, that's normally what they're
called).
