Maybe the person who was asking about hardware for a linux PC
was myself.

I've now documented my experiences in trying to build
"a linux PC" in Adelaide at:

http://www.topology.org/pc/

This is a possible starting point for putting together a resource
for people wanting to build their own "linux PC" in Adelaide.

My conclusion is that anyone who wants to go beyond
the basic "mums and dads" PC without having a lot of
prior experience and market knowledge is heading into
a sea of woe and travail.
