Re: more spooky stuff on the net!

Jake,

In principle, I guess that's right. Namely, that www.geekboys.org
and geekboys.org could resolve to different addresses.

However, the site designer _wants_ them to be the same, and has
checked with the DNS managing person to make sure that
they are the same.

Secondly, telnet gets the same IP address on my two RH 5.2 machines.

Thirdly, nslookup gets the same IP address on _all_ of my machines.

The only software to get the wrong IP address for www.geekboys.org
is telnet and netscape on one machine, namely my SuSE 6.2
machine.

Both of the name servers NOC.SPRAY.SE and SPRAYDNS.NORWEB.SE
give the same correct answer for www.geekboys.org:

====================================================
root@emu:/home/ak > nslookup - noc.spray.se
Default Server: noc.spray.se
Address: 212.78.194.254

Server: noc.spray.se
Address: 212.78.194.254

Name: www.geekboys.org
Address: 212.78.193.215

> server spraydns.norweb.se
Default Server: spraydns.norweb.se
Address: 194.218.252.9

Server: spraydns.norweb.se
Address: 194.218.252.9

Name: www.geekboys.org
Address: 212.78.193.215
=====================================================

So the mystery continues....

Regards,
Alan Kennington.

PS. To those who commented on the language specification
in the browser, that _was_ the cause of the problem
with www.aph.gov.au (parlous house), because their Microsoft IIS
server thought my Italian code "it" meant that I wnated to see
the IT inquiry page only. Fairly logical....
But "se" is not one of the language which I claim to
be acquainted with. I know only about 5 words of Swedish.
"Et" and "en" mean "a" or "an", and "det" and "den"
mean "the", I think. "Pa svenska" means "in swedish".
And that's pretty close to my limit.
Maybe "fisk" means "fish". It does in Danish anyway....
