Que?  OK, SO5.1 can't handle Word 97 diagrams very well.  However, it's
compatability IS very good indeed.
If people are obliged to produce output in MSOffice formats, could you
please offer another Linux alternative?

Both of which cost money, and niether of which is MS compatible.  One
problem I found with Applixware was that it could not use any of my
reasonably extensive CGM and WMF clipart.  Don't know about Wordperfect.
 
In a more perfect world, I'd use LYX or xEmacs as my word processor.
Then again, in a more perfect world *nix output formats would be the
universal standard and MS would be obliged to comply.  :-)
