Re: Truths.
ok - here's an opinion - the NT security may be good, but their
stability and inter-dependencies suck big time.
i went out to a client to replace a modem. simple task? would have been,
butthey were running NT.
here's what happened:
- replace modem
- redial service provider
- (NT) blue screen 'o death. on a production server. very bad
- reboot 5 minutes
- reinstall RAS (the routing and modem suite) 45 mins
- reboot 5 mins
- redial servive provide
- blue screen
- reboot 5 mins
- reinstall service pack5 45 mins
- reboot 5 mins
- blue screen while starting RAS (didn;t get to dial)
- ring office for help
- reinstall RAS 45 mins
- reinstall service pack5 **before rebooting** 45 mins
- reboot 5 mins
- reconnect to servie provider.
total achievement: replace modem
example 2. writing ASP scripts to talk ODBC to database. crash web
server software (IIS). repeatedly. cant just restart web service (ie
restart process) must reboot.
very very bad in my opinion.
I could go on (and on and on) about VB - but people like Jamz would be
angry :)
