XFree86, Trio3D and a Generic Multisync monitor

Hi,

I am attempting to get a ViewTop Titan 3D working under a distribution of
Linux.

I have installed XFree86 3.3.5, which has support for the Trio3D, and I
have a Generic MultiSync monitor connected, which I have seen do 1024x768
(just).

However, I can't seem to get the 800x600 modeline correct for the
combination, as when X starts, my monitor simply gives up and blanks its
screen.

I can get control back with Ctrl-Alt-Backspace and all is OK.

I have taken the following modeline from another machine that works fine
with this monitor in 800x600 mode:

Modeline "800x600" 69.65 800 880 944 1088 600 604 610 640 -HSync -VSync

Can anyone suggest a way forward?

Regards
