In an information age where the Internet, email and such are becoming
more important sources of information each day this statement amuses
me.Asking someone else if they know is quite valid in the real world -
if you work in a company with 10 programmers, if you get stuck on
something you don't just suddenly go wander off with your problem to the
text books only - you talk to your fellow human beings. That way you
might find the answer quicker, save the boss more money and he/she might
give you a pay rise.

Why is it that University's devalue asking one's fellow questions so
much? Asking the right information and working with people to get that
information is a skill in itself....
