Lack of SAMBA knowlegde
Hello!
I've been trying for the last couple of weeks trying to get a Linux box
shearing files'n'drives with our NT environment. The thing is that I want
to use the Linux box (Redhat 6.0) as an intranet server. I've managed to
put Apache on it to act as the web server bur i still need to be able to
transfer files on to it from various NTworkstation and NT terminal server
clients (Which are all 4.0 with SP4 or higher).
So I looked in SAMBA's direction and started working. I downloaded SAMBA
2.0.5a from the Net. I followed the install instructions, refered to the
SMB-HOWTO and got it sort of working. My graphical desktop enviroment is
GNOME. GNOME has a Samba browser. This browser shows the PDC and the
different BDC's and drives that are shared from them. But if I try to enter
into these drives the SAMBA browser hangs and I have to kill it.
Trying to conect to the Linux from a NT box via Network Neighborhood I can
see the printers folder (yes I'm able to print out on the network printer
via the PDC) and my own folder in the home directory. But trying to access
my folder I get an error message: \\Linux\Jo is not accessible. The network
name can not be found.
