Digital Prioris & linux

I've recently been given a Prioris 590 XL server to play with and I'm
having trouble getting it to work with my ethernet card.  Using Redhat
6.0 and a realtek 8139 based card.  Loading the module for this card
produces an unused module listed in the /proc/modules file and not a lot
else.  

Any ideas would be helpful, I've already exhauseted all my resources
(I've RTFM) as much as I can find  any reference too, but being an older
machine there isn't a great deal of data available.
