A good start would be to try and find a matching message (or similar)
within your /var/log/syslog (and/or messages) file(s). From there you _should_
at least determine a timestamp for the error and also which dameon had the
problem.

Do you mean an authoritive lookup-table of them or something?
If so, I'm afraid not :-\ They are usually nothing more than whatever the
afflicted daemon or process printed to STDOUT (usually to bring your
immediate
attention to the issue that it has also just logged to syslogd).
If you want to be able to re-read whatever console messages have been
produced since last boot, try "dmesg".
