device/kernel interface differences in 2.2.x kernel
Can anyone out there who writes kernel modules
(i.e. device drivers etc.) please summarize for me what
the extent of difference is between the device/kernel interfaces
in kernel 2.0.36, say, and kernel 2.2.10, say?
Some time ago, I was writing device driver software for the 2.0.36
kernel, and now I'd like to resume with the 2.2.10 kernel.
I know that if I search all over the place, I'll eventually
find a definitive statement on this matter, but it is not in
the basic user manual, of course.
I'm only using the char-driver device interface and the
IP-layer interface, and the usual sleep/wait/wakeup stuff.
I.e. not things like PCI, AGP etc. etc.
I.e. I'm not really talking to hardware at all.
Just doing network interface and char-device interface stuff.
I'd really appreciate a pointer to where the changes to
kernel interfaces are documented.
Cheers,
Alan Kennington.
PS. Please direct any flames to me personally, not to the
400 innocent bystanders.
