"Listen to Cel.Phones via the I'net"

This is *not* about the recent SlashDot.org
article under a similar title...

Rather a question for any legal-eagles among
the readers of this post...

Suppose that, using a remotely-controlled
scanning receiver (e.g. Swedish's JavaRadio;
c.f. www.JavaRadio.com for details or to use),
one were to intentionally listen to cellular tele-
phone conversations taking place in one coun-
try, i.e. while the listener was sitting (at an I'net
terminal) in another country altogether...

Suppose that listening to cel.tel conversations
in *that* (the listener's) country were unlawful.

Would there be any violation of the law in the
above case?

In the case that the wording of the legislation
fails to take into consideration this very real
possibility, should it?

(Disclaimer: This is *not* AFAIK anybody's
homework from a law course... ;)
