Hi,

reboot the computer, then at the lilo prompt, type "linux single" assuming
linux on the name of the kernel image you're currently using (it normally
is by default).

it'll take you to a prompt, where you have 2 options. I'd recommend
editing /etc/inittab and changing the default runlevel from 5 to 3. Your
other option is to edit /your XF86Config file, but single user mode, well,
isn't very good for much, IMHO. If you edit inittab and go into init level
3, you'll be given the login prompt at the console, where you can log in
and change your XF86Config file (by using XF86Setup, or Xconfigurator, or
just editing the file, for example).

good luck,
Andy
