networking over a serial cable?
Hi,
I have a laptop with a broken net card, but I do have a 'null modem'
cable. I was wondering if it's possible to network two computers with this
cable?
I looked for documentation, but wasn't successful (there was information
on PLIP, but I don't have a 'null printer' cable). I loaded netcfg and
looked at slip, but it wanted a phone number, username and password, and
if I skipped that, there was more config stuff for the modem.
If it is possible, does anyone know any documentation I can look at? Is
looking at the plip howto and pretending it reads slip good enough (with a
few changes)? :)
thanks,
Andy
