Netscape problems

After 6 months of readind and tweaking I still have the following
problem:

Netscape behaves perfectly as long as I dial into Camtech before opening

it. If I open netscape before connection it hangs after about 10 sec.
Running Apache does not prevent the problem - having htpp://localhost/
as
the home page does not prevent it hanging. If, after a successful
connection I hang up, netscape does not hang and *will* allow me to
browse html files on disk for a few minutes. Then it hangs again The
following steps have been unsuccessful:

setting home page to file rather than URL
using htppd daemon as above
setting 'use no proxy' for localhost.localdomain
perusal of PPP and Net 3 HOWTO's

It looks as though an unecessary (and unsuccessful) DNS lookup is taking

place. Does anyone have any advice?

machine P120 with 32Meg
RH 5.2 from APC CD - upgraded from RH boxed 5.0
Netscape 4.07-1 (rpm)

thanks, Tony
