It doesn't matter what the serial number is, as long as when you change it,
you make it a bigger number. You can start at 1 and increment it by one if
you want to. Most people I know (including myself) use a date stamp with a 2
digit serial number for the actual alteration, so YYMMDDNN. The first
alteration for today would be 99050501 then if I change it again it would be
99050502. Tomorrow if i have to make another alteration I would make it
99050601. Easy! Actually, I think I'm using 4 digits for the year. Y2K you
see ;)
