DPMS locks console
Hi.
I have a Samsung SyncMaster 700p monitor and some unknown video card (if
this won't suffice I'll open it up and try to find what kind it is). The
video card is running the Generic SVGA. I think it is XFree 3.3.2-8 (RH
5.1).
When I'm not at my desk I like my computer to save some energy, so, I
use to activate DPMS by typing
xset +dpms
Everything looks OK, and the screen goes suspend/off as expected. the
problem is that, from time to time (say 1 or 2 moths) it locks the
console and can't be turned on (not by touching the keyboard, moving the
mouse, or pressing the monitor switch).
I can login through the network, and do everything, but can't get the
monitor go on without rebooting (and I have tried to xset -dpms -display
:0 ).
When this happens xlock is usually on.
How to fix this?
Thank you
Joćo Campos
