Lost Partitions

Hi All.

I have recently discovered (to my horror) that all the partitions on =
/dev/hda are not there anymore.
This includes a Win98 partition, as well as my /home, /var and swap =
partitions. The question I am asking the list is:

Is there any way of recovering the partitions? My / partition and most =
of the user stuff (/usr, /usr/local, and so on) are on /dev/hdb and they =
are still unaffected, but the system will not boot without my swap space =
on /dev/hda. I would really like a simple program that will fit on a =
boot disk and search (??) the disk for at least my Linux partitions and =
write me a temporary partition table to enable me to back up my /home. =
Does such a program exist.

I have an old version of norton Utilities for DOS and this finds DOS =
partitions and writes a temp partition table, but I am not sure whether =
it will find Linux Partitions or not.

Cheers, and thanks in advance for your help - reply personall via email,
Adam Hawes
